Panus Oceania appoints New General Manager

After more than five years working in key roles at Panus Assembly, which is one of Thailand’s largest trailer manufacturers, Ron Gysberts has returned home to Australia to take the reins as General Manager of the brand’s Australian subsidiary, Panus Oceania.

Panus Oceania sells trailers produced by the Thailand manufacturer, however the products its markets are designed in Australia for Australian conditions. They feature various components from Australian suppliers including axles, suspensions, landing legs and braking systems to not only ensure ADR compliance, but to also assist with serviceability and availability of spare parts.

“I’ve been in transport all my working life, and I am seriously committed and passionate about this industry we are in,” said Gysberts.

“I’ve had a combination of 10 years away from Australia, so it’s great to be back home. I’m looking forward to this new, dynamic role and the challenges it will bring.”

Gysberts has spent close to 30 years in the commercial road transport industry, beginning his career as a diesel mechanic, before becoming an interstate truck driver and eventually moving into a variety of key sales roles – both in Australia and in various parts of Asia.

His previous experience includes key sales roles with Scania Trucks and Hendrickson, and 14 years as General Manager at Hallam Truck Centre, where under his leadership the dealership was named Dealer of the Year, within his first full year in the role.

Following his success in Australia, Gysberts landed his first role in the Asian market, where he joined the Thailand division of Linfox. After a brief return to Australia selling trailing equipment, Gysberts joined Panus Assembly in Thailand in September 2013.

He joined Panus Assembly in a business development role, where he was tasked with managing the manufacture of trailers designed specifically for Australia, at the Thailand manufacturing facility. From here, Mr Gysberts was appointed as International Sales and Marketing Director, where he was responsible for the company’s entire international marketing and sales team.

After the retirement of previous General Manager, Neil Zantuck, Gysberts officially commenced his role as General Manager of Panus Oceania on 14 January 2019.

“With the Australian Panus Oceania business becoming larger, it was good timing to return to Australia and focus solely on growing this business,” said Gysberts. “Even though I have spent a combined 10 years working overseas, I have been truly fortunate to be involved in the Australian transport industry, which is vibrant, innovative and dear to my heart.”
